Establishing a second fully equipped operating room to enhance surgical capacity

In a move aimed at enhancing its surgical capacity and responding to the increasing pressure, the Kuwait Specialized Field Hospital, located in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis Governorate in the southern Gaza Strip, announced the establishment of a second surgical operating room. This comes after a large number of patients in need of urgent surgical interventions were overwhelmed by the ongoing war and the collapse of the health system.

This expansion comes as part of the hospital’s ongoing efforts to address challenges on the ground, particularly following the destruction of most hospitals and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of citizens to the Al-Mawasi area, placing enormous pressure on the hospital and its services.

The Kuwait Specialized Field Hospital performs dozens of free surgeries daily, covering a variety of specialties, including general surgery, orthopedics, urology, pediatric surgery, and more. These surgeries are supervised by a select group of highly qualified Palestinian doctors, as part of their humanitarian duty toward our people during these catastrophic circumstances.

The hospital administration confirmed that the establishment of the second room aims to reduce waiting times and expedite the provision of surgical care, especially for critical cases that cannot tolerate delay.

She noted that this expansion was achieved by Palestinian hands and with local resources, despite scarce resources, and reflects the spirit of resilience and initiative of the medical staff working there.
