Dr. Suhaib Al-Hams, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Specialized Field Hospital, received a delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which included: Ms. Suzana Tkalic, Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator for the Palestinian Territory; Mr. Taher Ibrahim, Director of the OCHA Office in Gaza; Ms. Olga, Spokesperson for the Office; and Mr. Anas Helles.
Dr. Al-Hamas welcomed the visiting delegation, appreciating their presence in the Gaza Strip and their ongoing efforts to support the Palestinian people, especially in light of the ongoing aggression against the Strip.
The delegation was also briefed on the hospital’s progress, highlighting the challenges facing both medical staff and patients alike, given the deteriorating health and humanitarian conditions, the ongoing blockade, and the closure of crossings for more than two consecutive months. This has led to a severe shortage of medicines, medical supplies, basic food items, and fuel.
In this context, Dr. Al-Hamas noted that the hospital was recently forced to reduce its medical services due to these catastrophic circumstances, directly impacting the medical staff’s ability to meet the increasing needs of patients.
The visiting delegation also toured the hospital’s facilities, where they viewed the various departments and services. They praised the available facilities and professional competence, despite the exceptional challenges.
The delegation commended the tremendous efforts made by the hospital’s management, medical and administrative staff, and their commitment to providing the best possible care to patients despite the difficult humanitarian situation.
At the conclusion of the visit, the two sides agreed on the importance of enhancing cooperation and joint coordination in the coming period, in a way that would contribute to supporting humanitarian efforts and improving the health situation in the Gaza Strip.
