We Warn of Worsening Malnutrition Crisis in Gaza Strip

Kuwait Specialized Field Hospital in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis Governorate has warned of the dangerous deterioration in health and humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, amid the worsening acute malnutrition crisis that now threatens the lives of thousands of civilians, especially children, pregnant women, and the elderly.

The hospital explained that its medical teams receive dozens of malnutrition cases daily, most of them children and pregnant women suffering from serious health complications due to severe deficiencies in essential nutritional supplements.

It noted a sharp increase in the number of premature births in recent times, along with a noticeable decrease in fetal weights, which is directly attributed to chronic malnutrition and lack of essential nutrients during pregnancy.

The hospital also announced the depletion of nutritional supplements and medications designated for children, pregnant women, and elderly people with chronic diseases, warning that famine has reached advanced stages and affected all aspects of life.

It confirmed that food supplies for patients and working medical staff have run out, which directly impacts the hospital’s ability to continue providing humanitarian services.

In conclusion of its statement, the hospital appealed to the international community and humanitarian organizations to fulfill their moral and humanitarian responsibilities, and to intervene immediately to secure essential food and medical supplies, Ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches those who deserve it without delay or hindrance.
