230 Days of Continuous Medical Effort Despite Limited Resources and Repeated Targeting
For approximately 230 days, medical staff at Kuwait Specialized Hospital in Rafah continued providing healthcare services to hundreds of thousands of residents under exceptional humanitarian and medical conditions due to the ongoing war in Gaza.
Pressure on the hospital increased dramatically after the displacement of nearly one million people from northern Gaza to Rafah, making it one of the primary medical facilities operating 24/7 across all departments, especially emergency, surgical, delivery, laboratory, radiology, and ambulance services.
With the closure of Abu Yusuf Al-Najjar Hospital in eastern Rafah, the hospital bore additional burdens, becoming the sole facility receiving patients and casualties from across the governorate, including continuous reception of martyrs and wounded due to the aggression.
The hospital received approximately 3,000 visitors daily, with a total of 560,426 services provided, distributed as follows: Emergency Department: 196,751, Pharmacy: 303,066, Outpatient clinics: 21,932, Laboratory: 19,884, Rays: 17,285, Surgical operations: 1,135, Deliveries (natural and cesarean): 373.
This continuous performance demonstrates the extraordinary efforts of the hospital’s medical and administrative teams despite limited resources and direct targeting of the healthcare sector, aiming to alleviate the suffering of our people and strengthen their resilience under Gaza’s catastrophic conditions.
