For nearly 230 days, medical staff at Kuwait Specialized Hospital in Rafah have continued to provide healthcare services to hundreds of thousands of residents in the governorate, despite exceptional humanitarian and health conditions resulting from the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.

Pressure on the hospital has increased to an unprecedented level following the displacement of nearly one million residents from the northern Gaza Strip to Rafah Governorate. This has made it one of the primary medical facilities operating 24/7 across all its departments, including the reception and emergency departments, specialist clinics, pharmacy, laboratory, operating rooms, delivery suite, dental center, and ambulance services.

With Abu Yousef Al-Najjar Hospital, east of Rafah, out of service, the hospital has taken on an additional burden, becoming the sole destination for patients and the injured from all over Rafah, in addition to its ongoing reception of martyrs and wounded from the aggression.

The hospital received approximately 3,000 patients daily, and the total number of services provided during the period amounted to approximately 560,426 services, distributed as follows:

Emergency Department: 196,751

Pharmacy: 303,066

Outpatient clinics: 21,932

Laboratory: 19,884

Rays: 17,285

Surgical operations: 1,135

الولادات (طبيعية وقيصرية): 373

This sustained performance underscores the tremendous efforts made by the hospital’s medical and administrative staff, despite scarce resources and the direct targeting of the health sector, to alleviate the suffering of our people and strengthen their resilience amid the catastrophic conditions facing the Gaza Strip.
