Former headquarters of Kuwait Specialized Hospital – Rafah

Before

  • Kuwait Specialized Hospital was established in 2007 and is one of the leading healthcare institutions in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, playing a pivotal role in providing medical care over the years and earning a reputation as a trusted healthcare facility serving the local community.

  • Since the outbreak of the extermination war on Gaza in October 2023, the hospital has dedicated all its medical capabilities and services to treating the wounded and caring for patients around the clock, with medical teams demonstrating great dedication and sincere efforts in handling emergency cases, despite the intensity of the attacks and bombardments, amid the collapse of the healthcare system.

  • Due to the displacement of tens of thousands of families from various areas of Gaza to Rafah as a result of the aggression, a field hospital was established alongside Kuwait Specialized Hospital to expand medical services and meet the growing humanitarian needs under extremely challenging health and humanitarian conditions.

After

  • During the large-scale ground invasion of Rafah in May 2024, residents were forcibly displaced to the Mawasi area, and the hospital’s main facility was completely destroyed by deliberate bombardment and sabotage, rendering it out of service and depriving thousands of patients of basic healthcare.

  • Despite the destruction, the hospital continued serving our people by establishing a field hospital on six dunams in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis to provide medical services to hundreds of thousands of displaced individuals, sending a clear message of determination to continue supporting the community under the toughest circumstances.
